How the calculation works
Under UAE labour rules, gratuity is tied to basic salary and your time in service. As a rule of thumb, each of the first five years earns 21 days of basic pay per year; years after that earn 30 days per year. There’s also a cap — the total can’t exceed two years of basic salary. Unpaid leave doesn’t count toward your service length, and part-time cases are worked out using your percentage of full-time hours. Our gratuity calculator converts monthly, weekly, or daily pay, excludes unpaid leave, and shows a simple breakdown so you can double-check.
Step-by-step example
- Enter your basic wage in AED (no allowances).
- Pick monthly, weekly, or daily — the tool converts it.
- Add start and end dates to set your service period.
- If you’re part-time, enter your % of full-time hours.
- If you had unpaid leave, add those days so they’re excluded.
- Choose contract type. If you started before 2 Feb 2022, the tool applies the older logic where needed.
